Grafting Copolymerization of (Sodium Alginate/ Acrylic Acid/ MethacrylicAcid) by Gamma Radiation: Preparation and Characterization

Grafted copolymer (sodium alginate (Na. Alg)- acrylic acid (AcA)– methacrylic (MAcA)) was prepared by the gamma irradiation-induced copolymerization in presence of N, N-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as a co monomer crosslinker. The functionality, morphology and thermal stability have been examined using FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, TGA-DTA, respectively. surface grafted shows smooth relatively homogeneous appearance. Thermogravimetric analysis good suitable for all domain practical application which this polymer is used till near 400°C effect preparation conditions on swelling property has investigated mechanism graft through irradiation process also discussed. obtained results revealed that optimum preparing were 20% Acrylic acid, 10% Methacrylic 0.4 wt % sodium at dose 15 KGy with addition 0.03 MBA
